This Privacy Policy applies to the GeoTime application by Matthew F. Carroll, currently available as a web app, on iOS and on Android.
We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information whatsoever. The app requests access to your device's location for the sole purpose of displaying the current time and timezone at your location. Your coordinates are used only while the app is running, and are never transmitted to our servers or to any third party. The app stores the name of the city or town closest to your last known position internally on your device, so the home-screen widget can label your local time while the app is closed. That is never transmitted outside the app.
GeoTime can also show “ship time” — the onboard clock on a Royal Caribbean or Celebrity cruise, which shifts during a sailing. Because that clock is set by the crew and cannot be worked out from a map, the app fetches the current ship time from Royal Caribbean when you add a ship to your world clock list, and while you are connected to a ship's wi-fi, to recognise which ship you are aboard. Those requests identify only the ship name — never your location, device or account identifiers, or personal information of any kind.
